This is the first time here at NurureMyGut that I am asking for your help. This is something POWERFUL that not only affects you and me, but the future of our kids and grandchildren. It’s about the future of our food. There is a lost art that has been brought back by a group of passionate health enthusiasts, cooks, alternative doctors, and health professionals…and the word is spreading. Here in Los Angeles, we have a chance of making REAL FOOD known to thousands of people and with your help, to millions of people!!!
Let me tell you exactly what I am talking about and how YOU can help protect the future of our food supply.
About five years ago, I first learned about cultured vegetables and how healing they are to the gut. I first bought these online. It took 3 weeks to get my order and in the first sitting, I ate half a jar! My body was craving REAL FOOD. I eventually began making them. Then I learned about kefir and how this probiotic rich food also helps rebuild your immunity. I knew I was on to something. But I had NEVER in my life, heard of how important these treasured foods were until my dear friend Mary Donofrio told me about Elaina Luther at Culture Club 101 and how I had to meet her because she makes and sells cultured foods.
I met Elaina at The Pasadena Farmer’s Market and it was like I had known her for years! We spoke the same language of healing through foods. She began to educate me on REAL FOODS. She gave me samples of cultured beets, cultured cabbage, cultured carrots with jalapenos, even cultured raspberries! Not only was it healthy, but it tasted amazing!!!! She was a wealth of information, telling me about all the benefits of eating fermented/cultured foods and how it heals the gut, rebuilds the immune system and how our ancestors ate this way and we need to bring back this lost art for the sake of our health and those of our future generations. I knew I had to be a part of whatever she was doing. I went to visit Culture Club 101.
Oh my GOD!!! I was blown away with this place!!! I took as many cooking classes, lectures and trainings as I could fit into my busy schedule raising two small children. I learned to bake with sprouted flour, make fermented fruits, bone broth, homemade yogurt, kefir cheese, probiotic sodas with ginger bug, kombucha, traditional root beer and so much more!!! It took my cooking to a higher level of nutritional value. It made my cooking nutrient dense and inspired me to pursue my career as a health coach. I met hundreds of people through Culture Club 101, several who had healed their gut and improved their health through nutrient dense REAL FOOD. Here in the picture below is Elaina Luther and Monica Ford, from Real Food Devotee teaching how to make traditional yogurt full of beneficial bacteria made from Certified Organic raw milk. This is truly a lost art and can only be learned at places like this. I took several classes from both Monica and Elaina and I have never seen two women more in sync! It is like they are soul sisters!!! Elaina’s loving kindness and years of wisdom complemented with Monica’s charismatic and witty personality make you feel like you are family and never want to leave!!!
So how can these women contribute to the future of our food? Elaina Luther at Culture Club 101 has teamed up with Monica Ford from Real Food Devotee to make LA’s first REAL FOOD CULTURE KITCHEN. Monica Ford has been selling REAL FOOD to our local LOS ANGELES community for the last several years. Everything she makes is AMAZING!! She sells things like traditional bone broths, sauerkraut, kombucha, probiotic sodas, grain free desserts, and much more. I refer my clients to Monica when they don’t have the time to make traditional food themselves and they prefer to buy it.
She also teaches at local events. The picture below was a free demonstration of how to make traditional fermented sauerkraut at a local Green Festival. I remember seeing her there and she was awesome! I brought my family to this event primarily to see Monica and make sure I was making my sauerkraut properly! I wanted to learn from the expert!!
What these women are going to do is create LA’s first REAL FOOD KITCHEN. This place will be huge! It will be a certified commercial kitchen that offers ORGANIC UNPROCESSED REAL FOOD to our community, educational classes and most importantly be a model for REAL FOOD KITCHENS all around the world. Culture Club 101 has over 1,000 members and outgrew it’s place. LA needs something like this as soon as possible. It is people like you and me that can make this happen. Please watch the videos below and head over to Kickstarter to make a donation.
I fully support this project!!! Our community NEEDS a place like this to educate others of the benefits of eating REAL FOODS. To have healthier generations. Let’s make a stand for the future of our food!!!
I thank you with all my heart for your help with this project. We have less than a month to work together as a community and make this happen!!!
