Jump start your day with this energizing Berry Tropical Green Smoothie. This simple green smoothie tastes amazing, is super healthy and can be made in less than 5 minutes! You can’t even taste the kale!
Why Make This Recipe
- great taste– the tanginess of the mango and strawberries cut out the bitter flavor of the kale. You can’t even taste the greens!
- fast & easy- this smoothie comes together in just 5 minutes with only 5 ingredients!
- low in sugar– this green smoothie has half the amount of sugar than my Restorative Ginger Green Smoothie. It’s low in sugar, slightly sweet and slightly tangy. Perfect if you prefer a low sugar smoothie!
- gluten free & vegan- this smoothie is perfect for those avoiding gluten and dairy.
Ingredient Notes
- mango– I like to use cubed frozen mango which can be found in the frozen section of your local grocery store. If you have fresh mango on hand, use that, just add 4-6 more ice cubes.
- strawberries– Ripe fresh strawberries cut out the bitterness of the greens in this smoothie, alternatively, you can also use raspberries or a blend of the two.
- kale- Kale is a nutritional powerhouse rich in vitamin A, K, C, B6, folate and fiber. It is highly nutritious and a great addition to a healthy diet. If you don’t enjoy eating kale in salads, a smoothie is an excellent alternative. (source)
- coconut water- This ingredient is a great addition to your green smoothie due to it’s natural source of electrolytes. It contains potassium, sodium, natural sugars and manganese. (source)
- ice- Smoothies always taste better when you add ice. I add about 1 cup of ice cubes but if you like your smoothie more slushy, you can add up to 2 cups of ice.
Step by Step Ingredients
Step 1. Hull the strawberries
To remove the leaves off the strawberries, pinch off the leaves with your fingers or cut them off with a small knife.
Step 2. Add ingredients to blender.
Add coconut water, kale, strawberries, frozen mango and ice to your blender. Blend until you no longer hear ice cubes rattling in your blender.
Step 3. Serve
Pour into two glasses and serve. This smoothie will make approximately 30 ounces.
